Organic Skincare in WinterAs the season changes it is time to rethink our organic skincare regime to ensure our face and body will flourish during the colder months. Our natural beauty tips are very affordable and all based on using organic skin care, which are vegan products and suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin. The first thing to do is repair any damage that may have been caused during the summer months, which as we age become more visible, for example, as a mild tan fades enhanced skin discolouration make be apparent. We all try to use sunscreen where we can - but unless we opt for complete sun block through waking hours, the skin is subject to damage from the sun. We need some sunlight for our body to produce vitamin D which is so important for health, and is actually really good for skin as it aids Calcium absorption. The best organic skincare tip we suggest is to get a great organic plant oil that is packed with antioxidants, and massage it over the face and body – paying particular attention to areas that need extra care such as patches of discolouration, age lines, stretch marks, dryness or age spots. The fats in the oils are great for relieving dryness, putting moisture back in the skin and giving a lovely plumped up look. We recommend trying organic Jojoba, Argan or Rosehip oil as these are high in antioxidants which are needed to fight off free radical damage, plus they absorb well into the skin. Some oils such as Coconut are very fatty and don’t absorb that well, plus they can block pores on the face. No organic skincare regime for winter would be complete without some Shea Butter, super rich but not to greasy, it is good for lips and super dry patches. In fact it is really good for helping to heal eczema patches thanks to its fatty acid content. Great too for a rich treat on hands and feet, which get especially dry in this season. Slather Shea Butter over hands and feet just before bed, and wake up with them being soft and conditioned. This natural skin care wonder is kind on the purse to as it only costs a few pounds! As the temperature drops, the central heating goes on, great for feeling warm and cosy, but not so good for skincare. Cold air is not as moist as warm air, and as the heating goes on the air takes moisture from the skin. The best thing to do is keep well hydrated by drinking lots of water and herbal teas, plus you can put a bowl of water in some rooms like the bedroom, to help keep the moisture in while you sleep. An entirely natural beauty solution to an everyday problem. Nothing is nicer than a country walk on a beautiful Autumn or Winter day. Plus your skin will thank you for it too. The sunlight helps produce Vitamin D, and the fresh air will awaken skin. Plus a walk is perfect for distressing, it does not matter how good your organic skincare regime is, if you are really stressed then it will show on your face. Just think about when you frown and the way it makes your face look, whereas when we are stress free and relaxed, we feel good and it shows on our face! A walk is affordable natural beauty at its very best! Our complexions can get quite pale over the winter months, so get circulation going with massage to stimulate. Exercise is great, but don’t forget to protect the face. When cycling for example, the face is subject to the elements so protection is important. Use a good organic facial skin care moisturiser that offers protection as well as nutrients and hydration. The nice thing about winter is getting cosy on long dark nights, perfect for cooking up warming stews, and especially good for skincare. Don’t forget too that they don’t need to cost much, or contain many calories. Stews and soups can be really good for us and a great way to eat masses of vegetables, have them grated or chunky; anyway you like them – just throw as many in as possible. Carrots for example, have a lot of vitamin A and C in them. You will see a lot of beauty skin care products on the market that contain vitamin C and this is because as well as being an antioxidant it helps with the creation of collagen which is really important for firm robust skin cells. The carotene that is found in carrots is actually thought to give a glowing complexion. Spinach is a true super food and has many benefits for general health; it helps to firm skin and helps dry skin which is very common in winter. Garlic and onions contain Sulphur which is a mineral that is important for skin health and many actually say is “essential for good skin.” And finally, take time to enjoy your winter organic skin care, natural beauty should be fun! |
